Engagement photoshoot poses that are timeless and classic

Engagement photoshoot poses should show the love and connection between a couple – Imagery that is romantic and invokes a feeling of closeness, passion and comfort between the two of you is what we are looking for. But conveying emotion can sometimes be difficult, especially if there is someone with a camera staring at you the whole time! So we have put together this list to help you prepare and get inspired for your engagement photoshoot.

Timeless classic engagement photoshoot poses
  1. Come in for a close classic cuddle – Nothing shows more closeness and tenderness than a close embrace – so really hold your partner close, wrap them in your arms as if it is cold or you are trying to comfort them. It conveys a message of strength, reliability, and the promise that you will always be there. There are several variations to this – a hug from behind, wrapped in arms will also work.17 Romantic Engagement Photoshoot Poses That We Love | RENPHOTOS (2)
  2. A light kiss on the forehead from one of you is also a tender caring moment to capture – or if you don’t want to kiss in front of the camera then you can also just touch your foreheads together. You can do this facing each other completely or a little off to the side – Or one person looking at the camera, the other down, etc. Play around with the pose to get different angles and looks.
  3. Walk away or towards the camera holding hands. Or across the camera, One leading the other. Again there are variations to this, and you can also use it to really show off that engagement ring – with close-ups of holding hands or use the arm with the ring hand as a leading line, leading the partner off into the distance.17 Romantic Engagement Photoshoot Poses That We Love | RENPHOTOS (3)
  4. Give them a twirl – A great way to create movement in your photos and also get the couple to relaxa bit and not look too posed is to get them to dance together and twirl in a circle. Especially if there is a flowy dress involvedthis can really create a great shot.
  5. Pull them in close for a kiss – hand on cheek or neck, showing off the ring. This is a great way to show off the ring and also get that closeness and intimacy between a couple .
  6. A backlit romantic silhouette is also a great dramatic shot and there are lots of fun ways you can get creative with couple silhouettes. 17 Romantic Engagement Photoshoot Poses That We Love | RENPHOTOS (4)

Fun and lighthearted engagement photoshoot poses

Having the timeless classics for your engagement photos is great, but then its time to get creative and a also have a bit more fun with your engagement photoshoot. Here are some prompts and other secrets we use to get more spontaneous looking engagement shots.

Fun engagement photoshoot poses to try out
  1. Creating spontaneous unposed smiles can create magical engagement photos, but to do that can be difficult in front of the camera. So one of my favourite engagement photo prompts is to get the couple to think of their favourite vegetable – I ask them to think about it seriously and decide on one, Then one of the couple need to whisper the vegetable into the others ear in a sexy voice. I can honestly say this works every time! The ridiculousness of it really makes them laugh.
  2. Create Movement in your engagement photos – so we already spoke about twirling but there are many ways you can create movement as well as making the couple laugh – A piggy back ride for instance is a great way , Or get them to run as if they are being chased by something towards the camera. 17 Romantic Engagement Photoshoot Poses That We Love | RENPHOTOS (5)
  3. Upgrade the walk shot – You can play around with the simple walk and hold hands – swing your arms as wide as possible, take slow motion steps – or my favourite is to fight for the path, so imagine an invisible line that you both want to walk on, and try to push each other out of the way to walk on it. Always creates a laugh.
  4. Try to escape – Also one of my favourite engagement photo poses and a variant from the cuddle pose is to get one to hold the other in a cuddle, and then once I have that shot, I ask the person being cuddled to try and get away while the cuddler holds on for dear life. This always gets at least a giggle .
  5. Do a lift or a dip – either get one person to pick the other up in a bucket hold and twirl them around, or pick up facing forward like the picture below . If you are not comfortable with the lift then you can also try a dance dip – a perfect romantic engagement photo pose! 17 Romantic Engagement Photoshoot Poses That We Love | RENPHOTOS (6)
