Bad Boys: Ride or Die is the latest installment in the action franchise, and whether there is a post-credits scene setting up another sequel is confirmed. The Bad Boys franchise returned with its fourth film starring Will Smith's Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence's Marcus Burnett in 2024. Following up the events of Bad Boys for Life, the sequel pairs Mike and Marcus with Mike's son, Armando, as they attempt to clear themselves and Captain Howard. It is through this story that the film takes the series in new directions, all while leaving room for Mike and Marcus' stories to continue.

As a long-running and popular franchise that could have more installments, there was an increased chance of Bad Boys: Ride or Die having an end-credits scene. The fact that Bad Boys for Life's credits scene was the first of the series only made it seem more likely that the sequel would also utilize the tag. The fourth movie brings back most of the creative team and stars from the third, and with ideas for Bad Boys 5 being floated around, it would make some sense for there to be a Bad Boys 4 post-credits scene.

There Is No Extra Footage

It is confirmed that Bad Boys: Ride or Die does not have a post-credits scene. There is no additional scene that plays as part of a mid-credits or after-credits scene. Instead, Bad Boys: Ride or Die's ending is where Mike and Marcus' story ends for now. While this means audiences will not miss any franchise setup by not watching the credits, it is always encouraged to do so to see the names of everyone who worked on the movie. This also leaves Bad Boys for Life as the only movie in the franchise with a credits scene of any kind.

Why Bad Boys 4 Did Not Need An After-Credits Scene

The Franchise's Future Is Left Open

The fact that there is no Bad Boys: Ride or Die after-credits scene is mildly surprising. The franchise's decision to use one on the previous installment created an expectation that this is a series that would now be open to doing credits scenes and giving audiences one final tease of the future. Instead, Bad Boys for Life's post-credits scene now looks like the exception to the franchise. It is ultimately better for the series, though, if Bad Boys: Ride or Die leaves out a tag scene rather than forces one in just to meet audience expectations.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die now leaves the franchise in a position where a potential sequel can go in any direction with the story. Bad Boys for Life slightly boxed the sequel into telling a story with Mike and his son working together so that the credits scene would not be ignored. If there is no clear understanding of where the characters will go next, it is much better to leave the future more open than before. That's why Bad Boys: Ride or Die not having an end-credits scene is a good decision.
