Whether you’re thinking about an upcoming wedding or just looking for a cute mini flower bouquet, this DIY flower idea is adorable and easy to recreate. But more than that, it’s probably one of my favorite flower ideas because it’s super affordable as well. And it’s no secret that I have a love affair of sorts with flowers, so that’s really saying something – from ideas forsmall flower arrangementsto my list of fave flowers for beautiful floral arrangements every time.

Often times, the only downside to making floral arrangements at home isthat it can get expensive fast. And I happen to be most drawn to flowers that are pricey, for some reason.

But I do like a budget challenge as much as the next DIY girl, so I try to come up with affordable flower projects as often as possible. You know, when I’m not covering a three foot tall flower ampersand in piano garden roses or creating a flower pendant light covered in calla lilies and dahlias.

Which is why, I’m happy to report that today’s flower DIY pretty much takes the cake on the budget scale. It costs $2 to make! And the flowers are store bought, not picked from my imaginary garden. The trick is using filler flowers, instead of larger blooms, and keeping it small. Super small.

Next, cut a long rectangle from newspaper that is roughly three times the size of your bouquet.

5. Write a message.

Using a marker, write a message, on the newspaper clipping, to your soon-to-be bridesmaid to ask her if she’d like to be in your wedding party.

Now, wrap the bouquet in the newspaper, keeping the message concealed on the inside of the bouquet, and tie it off with another piece of string.

When friends or family open the bouquets to put the flowers in water, the newspaper message will be revealed.

My favorite part about these mini flower bouquets, aside from the price, is the secret message. It’s a nice surprise for whomever you decide to give these little bundles to. Once the newspaper is unwrapped from the bouquet, the message is revealed. Surprise!

I think these little wrapped arrangements would be cool alternatives to standard thank you cards, Valentines gift idea/ greeting cards, weddings, etc.
