Mets Daily Prospect Report, 4/13/24: Acuña gets on track (2024)

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (7-5)

SYRACUSE 4, WORCHESTER 2 (BOX)

Great all around win for Syracuse here. The offense - led by top prospect Luisangel Acuña, who was playing CF today, as well as interesting MiLB signing Rylan Bannon - was solid, the pitching was excellent, and Syracuse mostly cruised. Joey Lucchesi was effective despite still lacking velocity on his fastball and cutter (mostly sat ~89), while Shintaro Fujinami avoided walking anyone and Josh Walker struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings. Fujinami has more name recognition certainly and is worth giving a look on the major league side at some point, but Walker is also worth giving another major league chance at some point fairly soon.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (2-3)

CANCELLED (RAIN)

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (1-5)

ASHEVILLE 7, BROOKLYN 1 (BOX)

The rough start to the season continued for Brooklyn here, as they got blown out again. Noah Hall was even worse in his second start of the year than he was in the first, giving up six runs without getting out of the first inning. Ryan Clifford continues to strike out a ton, though he did manage a loud double that is probably a home run in other parks. The lone bright spot was probably Nolan McLean, who crushed a ball for his first home run of the year. He also struck out twice though, which is about what you should expect from him as a hitter.

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (2-5)

JUPITER 5, BROOKLYN 4 (BOX)

St. Lucie seemed on track to win this one after scoring the first four runs of the game, but the bullpen blew it. Wyatt Hudepohl coughed up two runs in the seventh, Ryan Ammons two more in the eighth, and Jimmy Lopez gave up the walkoff run in the ninth. On offense, Nick Morabito struck out twice while Colin Houck managed a hit and two walks. Jesus Baez - who had more hype last year and is still a name worth following - went two hits, a double, and a walk as well.
